FAQ

This unique event is the second edition of the BoostUp! series which started in 2020 and showcases cutting-edge manufacturing innovation and technologies in Europe. BoostUp! RIS is a one-of-a-kind forum for gathering startups, scaleups, SMEs, entrepreneurs, investors, and key industrial players.

It is part of the Manufacturing Days at Vienna UP’21 powered by EIT Manufacturing.

The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) was introduced in 2014 with the following objectives:

  • Widen participation in the EIT Innovation Communities’ activities by engaging players from countries that have lower participation;
  • Share good practice, experience and know-how emerging from the EIT Communities’ activities with local innovation ecosystems;
  • Offer tailor-made services to address identified innovation gaps.

Ultimately, EIT will contribute to boosting innovation in EIT RIS countries by strengthening linkages among key innovation actors.

RIS countries include Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.

Watch companies showcase and pitch their solutions for tackling European manufacturing challenges, listen to experts address the most pressing manufacturing themes and connect to the EIT Manufacturing ecosystem.

As part of the event, finalists in the BoostUp! RIS pitching competition will present their ideas and solutions.  A prize ceremony for the top winners in each category will round out the second day of the event.

Individuals or companies that applied to the EIT Manufacturing BoostUp! 2020 competition are not eligible.

BoostUp! RIS seeks applicants from RIS eligible countries with solutions in the realm of manufacturing technologies.  In particular, submissions need to fit one of the following EIT Manufacturing flagship areas as well as the following technology domains: Simulation & Advanced Engineering Tools, Industrial VR/AR, Industrial Robotics, Logistics Tech, Additive Manufacturing (3D printing), Predictive Maintenance, Advanced Sensors, Advanced Detection (IR/Noise/etc.), Industrial Cybersecurity, Connectivity and IoT Infrastructure, Data analytics/AI, Digital Twins.

Please see the competition guidelines, rules, and regulations for full details.

Participants will compete for “growth packages” of dedicated support services provided by the EIT Manufacturing Business Creation team in addition to financial prizes to be spent on R&D and go-to-market support needs, as aligned with the EIT Manufacturing Business Creation team.

Plus, by participating, you will become part of a growing and powerful European community for start-ups, scale-ups, and SMEs.

Why BoostUp!?

“Our BoostUp! journey, which started in 2020, has proved to be an excellent opportunity for engaging EIT Manufacturing with the innovative manufacturing community across European ecosystems. While competition is an important component to liberate our full potential, inclusiveness and collaboration are the cornerstones of BoostUp!

In 2020, we received applications from more than 180 outstanding entrepreneurs, startups, scaleups and SMEs across Europe.  We built a close and continuing business relationship with 45 of the finalist winners, to whom we are delivering a range of services including business development and access to finance.

Ultimately, BoostUp! enables us to collectively build, step by step, our pathway to make an impact by creating jobs, offering better working environments, bringing green technologies to the market, and promoting diversity within manufacturing.

In 2021, together with our community, we are continuing the journey: same journey, but an exploration from different perspectives.”
